Keanu Charles Reeves, pe numele sau adevãrat, este unul dintre cei mai solicitati si mai ocupati actori principali de la Hollywood. A jucat pana in prezent in peste 50 de filme. Reeves, a carui nume inseamna "o briza linistitoare deasupra muntilor" in hawaiiana, s-a nascut in Beirut, Liban in 1964. Mama lui, Patricia, era o dansatoare de striptease iar tatal, Samuel Nowlin Reeves, un geolog. Dupã divortul parintilor, Keanu s-a mutat alaturi de mama sa si sora mai mica, Kim la New York, apoi in Toronto. Primul tata vitreg a fost Paul Aaron, un regizor de film de care mama sa, Patricia a divortat dupa un an de zile. Dupa aceasta, s-a mai recasatorit de 2 ori. Reeves nu s-a mai întalnit niciodatã cu tatal biologic, care este în acest moment in inchisoare, pentru posesie de cocaina. Reeves a jucat în diferite productii cinematografice locale si la televiziune inainte de a trage "lozul castigator". Primul sau rol remarcat si foarte apreciat a fost în productia lui Tim Hunter, River's Edge, in 1986. Apoi a jucat in Permanent Record al Marisei Silver si impreuna cu Amy Madigan si Fred Ward in The Prince of Pennsylvania. Apoi, o noua etapa a început cand actorul a fost distribuit in rolul inocentului Danceny din mult apreciatul film al lui Stephen Frears "Dangerous Liaisons" (Legaturi periculoase) din 1988, alaturi de Glenn Close, John Malkovich si Michelle Pfeiffer. A facut parte din alte distributii impresionante, in comedia lui Ron Howard, "Parenthood", din 1989 si în productia lui Laurence Kasdan, "I Love You to Death", in 1990.
Spectatorii l-au vazut pe Keanu Reeves pentru prima oara într-un rol principal alaturi de Barbara Hershey în filmul din 1990 al lui Jon Amiel "Tune in Tomorrow"..., în care a jucat si Peter Falk. A mai jucat de asemenea în apreciata productie SF din 1995, "Johnny Mnemonic", în filmul de actiune regizat de Andrew Davis, "Chain Reaction" (Reactie in lant) si in comedia neagra, "Feeling Minnesota", in regia lui Steve Baigelman.
Lista sa lunga de realizari include trilogia Matrix - rol care i-a adus consacrarea internationala, rolul sau apreciat de critici din "The Gift" (Prezicere fatala), alaturi de Cate Blanchett; Hardball; Sweet November; The Replacements; A Walk in the Clouds (Atat de aproape de cer); apreciatul thriller The Devil's Advocate (Pact cu Diavolul), alaturi de Al Pacino si de Charlize Theron; Little Buddha.
Reeves a aparut de asemenea in "Dracula" lui Francis Ford Coppola; My Own Private Idaho; Point Break (La limita extrema); Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure si continuarea Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.
