Kevin Bacon este un actor nominalizat la premiile Screen Actors Guild. Printre filmele in care a jucat se numara Footloose, Animal House, Stir of Echoes, Wild Things, JFK, Apollo 13, The Woodsman, Death Sentence, s.a. Bacon,cel mai mic din ceilalti sase copii ai familiei, s-a nascut in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mama sa, Ruth Hilda era invatatoare, in timp ce tatal sau, Edmund Bacon, era un arhitect renumit. Decizia de a deveni actor nu a luat-o foarte usor, urmarind sa atinga teluri ridicate. Cu toate acestea debutul in cinematografie, in comedia Animal House in anul 1978 nu i-a adus faima la care spera, Bacon intorcandu-se la auditiile pentru roluri mai putin importante in piese de teatru. A reusit totusi sa atraga atentia asupra sa odata cu rolurile din Tremors si Flatliners, in anii '90. Este casatorit cu actrita Kyra Sedgwick din 4 Septembrie 1988;cei doi s-au cunoscut in timp ce pregateau piesa Lemon Sky. Bacon si Sedgwick au jucat impreuna in filmele Pyrates, Murder in the First si The Woodsman. Au impreuna doi copii, Travis Bacon (nascut pe 23 Iunie 1989 in Los Angeles, California) si Sosie Ruth Bacon (nascuta pe 15 Martie 1992). Locuiesc impreuna in zona de vest a Manhattan-ului. Bacon si Sedgwick fac tot posibilul sa nu lucreze la proiecte diferite simultan. In anul 2007 a sustinut campania electorala a democratului John Edwards pentru alegerile prezidentiale din 2008.
